About Us

Bighorn Ranch is a small full-service stable located in Big Flats, WI which is 15 miles south of Wisconsin Rapids or 12 miles north of Adam-Friendship just off of Highway 13 on Bighorn Ave. We are family owned and operated and cater to the individual needs of our customers.

We began giving guided trail rides in 2006 with our family horses on the miles of trails that are next to the ranch. Since then we have added our popular Day Camps for kids that want to learn more about horsemanship, lessons, training, and boarding.

Trail Riders

Bighorn Ranch, which is only 15 miles south of Wisconsin Rapids, offers scenic trail rides to the public. We have several great trail horses for even the beginner rider. Check out our horses by clicking on the Meet Our Horses.

Our trails utilize the county’s snowmobile trail that goes through the pine forests of northern Adams County. On a wet spring or summer, we have a creek to cross, which adds excitement to the ride!

We do require helmets for minors and have them available for you to use. It’s best to wear closed toed shoes and avoid wearing sandals when riding horses. We will give you a short lesson before the trail ride if needed.

Bighorn Ranch also offers boarding for area residents of Adams County and Wisconsin Rapids. We have 10 private paddocks with run in shelters and automatic water or you can board your horse with our family herd. You may use all of our facilities including a wonderful 50′ round pen, 128 X 240 outdoor arena, 60 X 120 indoor arena, heated tack area and wash bay, hitching posts and more. We also have a few indoor 14 X 12 stalls. Of course you will have access to the many miles of wonderful scenic trails next to the ranch. Your friends are welcome to join you with a release form signed. We are willing to help you with training your horse if needed and can provide private lessons. We often host trail rides that you can join all year long!

Does your horse need training or just a tune up? We can help you out! You tell us what you need and we will generate a training plan for your horse with some lessons for you if needed.

Want to learn how to horseback ride, manage a horse and improve your horsemanship skills?

Bighorn Ranch offers private lessons. Group lessons require meeting prerequisites and a skills list before joining.

You can bring your own horse (with current neg. cogging) or use one of ours. Give us a call to set up a lesson package that fits your own needs.
